Description
What drove this piece is the idea of the intense desire of validation I had when I did competitive figure skating. I feel very strongly about this topic because of how time consuming this sport was during the 13 years I practiced for it.
It’s a big part of how I grew up and heavily influenced how I perceive the world. This piece represents how ice skating is a very elegant appearing sport. In my piece, you can see I input many photos of happy smiles during my time as a figure skater.
However, the medium on top represents that on a deeper level, this sport can come with many negative effects towards your mental health and may not seem like how it does on the surface level.
